Steven Gibson is the Resident Manager of Stengl "Lost Pines" Biological Research Station. Living onsite gives him the chance to develop an intimate understanding of the diversity and opportunities available. Constant active monitoring gives valuable insight and steadily evolves our understanding of the relationships involving the local flora and fauna.

In addition to managing the field station, Steven Gibson also plays an active role the fight against the red imported fire ant. As part of the research team looking at possible biological controls, Steven monitors the effects and spread of phorid flies. Since Stengl BRS was one of the early release sites of these flies, having an experienced researcher on site facilitates data collection.
