The Chemical Ecology Lab has been used for Phil Schappert's research on the ecological and evolutionary interactions between the chemical defenses of plants and their insect herbivores, pollinators and predators.

Other projects in the Chemical Ecology Lab include measurements of worker fat content in individual fire ant workers.
